REVOLT

DONT TREAD ON ME

LAST THURSDAY

Get together with your friends and family and come up with a creative lemonade.  Rosemary, lavender, mint, honey, agave, mate, carob, what the fuck ever you can come up with, show up early on Alberta and 25th to 26th streets around 11 or 12 in the daytime, set up a table and offer lemonade for donation, or free.  We should fill the entire bloc with lemonade stands!

Where but PDX would you find a Last Thursday Lemonade Stand Revolt?  More and the backstory.

A FEW TRUTHS ABOUT YRP?! [YARP?!]

1. We are not fast food! We have three burners and limited storage; both which influence wait time.  If we are busy, wait time is longer. The thing to remember is the slower we go the better the meal.

2. We are a worker and community owned democratic corporation. We offer several payment options including barter, labor for food, in house credt and a pay forward program.  The only reason YARP?! still exists is because our community loves food and what we are doing.

3. Our menu is interactive even after you get your food.  Just talk to us about your likes & dislikes and dietary constrains.  We want you to be happy.

4. Our hours of operation are influenced by a number of factors including parental oblications, equipment malfunction, oversleeping, hangovers, the fact that Jeremy (only [ed. our maybe?] guy) is severely disabled, [ed. ????], alien landing, revolution (though chances are we’re open), natural disaster, bad drug trip, whatever.

If our sign says open and the lights are on, we are open.  Just yell YARP?! if you need service.

Part of the the cartstraviganza on Hawthorne.  I haven’t tried it myself but a guy at Whiffles was raving about his dinner from YARP!?.  Yelp seems to like it, and I also found this nice bit on Food Carts Portland

Community – there were many wonderful stories about how the carts and the community came together. One story in particular is about Yarp?!. Throughout the year, they had challenges, but the community always rallied to help them stay open. Customers even did the dishes one day. Yarp?! is still open and loved by all.

Can’t argue with “loved by all.” I’m gonna have to try it.  Unless there’s an alien landing.
