FAKESY?!
Current state of the SE Stark pranksy (my preferred term). Previously on Is Banksy in Portland?
Art is not a commercial!
Take down you’r “Banksy”MAKE ART NOT CRAPPY TAGS
Saw this on 23rd today next to a tagged over “Banksy piece.” Someone speaking up about it. Also saw a “Banksy rat” piece this morning, on the east Voodoo Donuts building, stabbing a voodoo doll.
I couldn’t find the rat at Voodoo. Pranksy/Banksy previously.
More Banksy pranksy elephants on SE 26th and Hawthorne by Frank Escamilla of Xmitter.
Banksy’s been quiet of late by his standards, but that silent spell might have been broken over in Portland, US. Either that or there’s a very accomplished impostor at work, judge for yourself.
Most notably, there’s this blue rain NOLA that just went up.
This photo was taken by Tim F.S….
[update] Tim has more info and photos on his own tumblr here.
Banksy pranksy Elephant on SE Salmon and 8th by Frank Escamilla of Xmitter
Previous pink elephants. Copy, or is Banksy in Portland?
[update] No.
I was headed to Sweetpea Baking Co on SE Stark and 12th, and there it was. This was my first encounter with a Banksy piece. So cool, and so recognizably Banksy’s style. I guess it’s a piece that was spotted around New Orleans. I took photos on my phone, but here’s a better one courtesy of fat_hobo.
A couple of other Banksy’esque pieces have been spotted in Portland recently: http://houseofleaves.typepad.com/blog/2010/08/banksy-in-portland.html
Click through for some cool photos. Previously. More here shortly.
[update] I’m definitely in the pranksy camp at this point. If something original had shown up that would have been one thing, but hey good on you for getting our attention, plagiarist.
[another update] Banksy pranksy elephants by Xmitter. While you’re here, check out some real Portland Street Art.
If you’re in to graffiti, street art, banksy and all that - the last showing of Exit Through the Gift Shop at the Hollywood Theater is at 9:15 tonight!
